Plastics Applicative Testing

Plastics / Polymers Applicative Testing

The IMI Plastics Applicative unit offers its development, analytical and testing services in the field of polymers and plastics to the plastics industry: compounders, developers of new products, and manufacturers of plastic parts.

Plastics Testing information derived from stress/strain curves, microstructure, rheology, and injection molding trials may be used for a variety of purposes such as quality control for the evaluation of raw materials (additives, polymers) and products.

Should customer testing require special procedures, apparatus or set-up, a test program can be drawn together with our workshop to meet these requirements.

The IMI Plastics and Polymers Group employs skilled staff with extensive experience and in-depth expertise in polymers and plastics with access to state-of-the-art facilities to provide proprietary compound development services.

The formulations are further processed either by Injection Molding (with a Dr. Boy 25M injection molding machine) or Compression Molding (with a Dr. Collin electrically heated 30-ton press)

The specimens are conditioned and then tested for mechanical properties, flame retardancy, thermal behavior, UV stability, density, chemical composition, etc.  The rheological behavior of the formulations is derived by MFR (Haake Melflixer)

The IMI Plastics Applicative Unit makes the following tests available:

  • Mechanical Testing
  • Flame Retardancy Testing
  • Microstructure Investigation
  • Characterization of Fillers
  • Density
  • Rheological Behavior
  • Chemical Analysis/Reverse Engineering
  • Oven Aging
  • UV Stability
  • Thermal Analysis
  • Adhesion
  • Molecular Weight Distribution (GPC)
  • Wettability
